Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
    • Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.
  • Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
    • Administer all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
    • Assure pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
    • Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management.
    • Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports and maintain central line catheter devices.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
    • Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
Qualifications Education/Training Level I
  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
  • RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Must maintain continuing education requirements.
  • Entry level – 0-3 years nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred.
Level II
  • In addition to Level I:
    • Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred.
Level Senior
  • In addition to Levels I and II:
    • Minimum five (5) years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology strongly preferred.
    • Oncology certification preferred.

Physical demands include full range of body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, standing and walking for extensive periods, and occasionally lifting items weighing up to 40 lbs.

Corrected vision and hearing to normal range are required.
