Come lead with us at Houston Methodist Hospital. In this NP AC (ACLS) position you will function as a licensed registered nurse and care provider, delivering all aspects of patient care—diagnosis, treatment, and consultation—while upholding the health of the patient. The role may be employed in both inpatient and outpatient settings and follows the Nurse Practice Act of Texas as part of a treatment team.

The NP AC (ACLS) is responsible for compassionate communication with patients, physicians, and the interprofessional health care team, providing education about preventive care and prescribed treatments. Additional duties include conducting physical exams, ordering tests, prescribing medications, and performing procedures as authorized. This position aligns with the Houston Methodist Professional Practice Model, Nursing Practice, and Professional Performance policies.

Qualifications Education
  • Master’s degree or higher from an accredited School of Nursing and graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioners program
Experience
  • Two years of registered nurse, advanced practice, or nurse practitioner clinical experience
Licenses and Certifications
  • RN – Registered Nurse – Texas State Licensure – Texas Board of Nursing (PSV Compact Licensure – Must obtain permanent Texas license within 60 days if establishing Texas residency)
  • APRN – Acute Care state license
  • Magnet ANCC‑recognized Acute‑Care practitioner certification
  • BLS – Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) – American Heart Association
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Instructor (AHA) – American Heart Association
  • AP – Prescriptive Authority – Texas Board of Nursing – Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (PSV)
  • DEA – Narcotics License (DEA) – Drug Enforcement Administration (PSV)

  • Acts as a clinical leader, consultant, and patient advocate. Identifies staff development opportunities and provides coaching to meet goals.
  • Communicates organizational information respectfully and positively while advocating for balanced workloads.
  • Collaborates with the interprofessional team to manage and coordinate patient care.
  • Advocates for patients and families to resolve clinical and ethical issues, fostering healthy workplace relationships.
  • Serves as preceptor for Nurse Practitioner students and medical residents, as applicable.
Service
  • Coordinates timely patient care under physician supervision for a defined patient population, focusing on expected outcomes.
  • Coordinated care between providers and participates in interprofessional rounds.
  • Drives improvement of patient satisfaction through peer accountability to service standards.
Quality and Safety
  • Provides safe care and coordinates with the team to develop protocols for patient safety.
  • Conducts health assessments, plans care, implements interventions, and evaluates outcomes.
  • Performs invasive, diagnostic, or therapeutic procedures within licensure and credentialed privileges.
  • Initiates quality, safety improvement activities aligned with organizational goals.
Finance
