Townsen Memorial Hospital is looking for a Clinical Nurse Educator (Operating Room) to join our team! The Clinical Nurse Educator (Operating Room) enhances professional practice and the provision of quality patient care by providing evidence-based quality educational programs and activities that promote professional competency for nursing, inter-professional, and non-licensed clinical staff at the assigned facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Provides orientation/onboarding programs to promote employee retention.
- Designs and identifies educational activities to address practice gaps for identified target audiences.
- Develops activities to achieve specific outcomes related to identified deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skill and practice. Plans educational content delivery that encourages learner engagement.
- Identifies and develops strategies to facilitate a continuous process of maturation through lifelong learning.
- Utilizes novice-to-expert continuum when developing staff. Identifies and provides opportunities for skill enhancement and mastery.
- Responsible for determining staff education specific needs based on needs assessment.
- Responsible for creating, developing, implementing, and evaluating new staff education to include, but not limited to orientation, providing education as needed, based on the organizational needs.
- Develops curricula, instructional materials, tests and evaluation tools. Makes changes to the curricula based on feedback and current clinical and/or educational evidence.
- Promotes evidence-based educational methods and technologies that support development of nursing expertise.
- Assures that staff meets required competencies, both annual and unit based for area of practice.
- Promotes evidence-based educational methods and technologies that support development of nursing expertise.
- Keeps current on best practice standards of nursing practice and education. Identifies policies, standards and practices not in compliance with current standards and communicates needed revisions through the nursing leadership.
- Ability to work in a self-directed manner, collaborating and coordinating with health care professionals.
- General knowledge of the scope of practice and evidence-based practices.
- Attention to detail with time management and organization skills with the ability to work with a high degree of initiative and independence.
- Possesses solid written and public speaking skills, including the ability to clearly and professionally explain medical, technical, or sensitive information to diverse audiences.
- Broad knowledge of clinical nursing, including current trends, safety precaution policies, equipment, electronic healthcare records (EHR) management software, accrediting agency standards, and local/state/federal regulations.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Registered Nurse in the State of Texas or has an active compact state license in accordance with law and regulation;
License must remain active and unencumbered while employed. - Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or other clinical field.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or other clinical field (Preferred).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire.
- Three (3) years’ experience working in the Operating Room.

Compensation to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Employment for this position is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
