Job Description
Advanced Practitioners roles as Physician’s Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will support International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. in providing a comprehensive range of medical care to U.S. government employees and contractors in Iraq. Clinics are responsible for a variety of on‑site primary, urgent, and initial emergency care services. The Advanced Practitioner is responsible for leadership and management of clinic staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee medical staff at a DOS/DOS healthcare clinic.
- Collaborate with on‑site physicians, other APPs, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care.
- Participate in the assessment and stabilization of patients requiring urgent or emergent care.
- Provide comprehensive primary and continuing care to patients presenting with a wide range of health concerns.
- Clinic services include, but are not limited to, health promotion and disease prevention, health maintenance counselling and patient education, diagnosis and directed physical exams, emergent and annual vaccinations, comprehensive STD testing.
- Manage simple chronic conditions through intermittent monitoring.
- Consult and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain compliance with all project site procedures, standards, and continuing educational and mandatory training requirements.
- Coordinate with medical evacuation teams for patients requiring care beyond the capabilities of the clinic.
- Participate in MASCAL exercises.
- Complete required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client‑specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements/Certifications
- Full unrestricted U.S. (State) licensure, certification, or registration required in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalency.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Minimum 5 years’ recent experience including 6 months within the last year.
- Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred.
Education Required
- Graduate of an accredited or provisionally accredited American Academy of Physician Assistants and hold an NCCPA certification.
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner School and hold an AANP or ANCC certification.
