Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director of Donor Communications will oversee the marketing, communications, and branding of the Harris Health Strategic Fund and the Harris County Hospital District Foundation. The role includes developing and implementing marcom strategies to advance the development team’s strategic priorities, elevating internal and external awareness of development initiatives, and providing strategic leadership through communication expertise—including researching, writing, editing, proofing, and publishing information that supports development goals across print, digital, and electronic venues.
Degrees- Bachelor’s:
Communications, marketing, journalism, non‑profit management, business, or related field.
- Seven (7) Years:
Development communications, non‑profit marketing and/or communications, or related field with health care or comparably complex organization preference. - Three (3) Years:
Generating and leading non‑profit communications programs to establish and strengthen high‑quality relationships with donors.
- Five (5) Years:
Overseeing and managing staff—including hiring, training, performance management, and professional development—preferably in non‑profit communications.

- Proven track record of developing and executing successful donor communications strategies; fluency in social media and web trends and best practices; strong leadership skills and ability to collaborate across diverse teams; complete understanding of policies and procedures concerning marketing and communications with emphasis on privacy and release of information; ability to lead through influence to motivate staff and direct work; knowledge and experience in philanthropy, ethics, motivations for giving, volunteering, research, cultivation practices, and standard fundraising techniques.
