The Ductile Fabrication Project Manager is responsible for overseeing fabrication operations while driving project execution, scheduling, quality control, and team performance within the ductile division.
This role bridges project management and shop leadership, ensuring that fabrication aligns with project timelines, cost controls, and company performance standards.
The ideal candidate is a strong, confident leader capable of managing high-performing and strong-personality team members while maintaining accountability, structure, and productivity within the shop environment.
Core Responsibilities Project Execution & Coordination- Own fabrication timelines from release to shipment.
- Coordinate closely with Project Managers to align production schedules with client commitments.
- Monitor job progress, proactively identify delays, and implement corrective action.
- Track labor utilization and material flow to support cost control.
- Oversee daily fabrication activities, ensuring productivity, quality, and safety standards are met.
- Develop and maintain production schedules in collaboration with drafting, paint, and shipping teams.
- Ensure fabrication meets engineering specifications and customer requirements.
- Maintain inventory oversight of ductile iron materials and fabrication components.
- Lead and mentor fabrication personnel.
- Manage strong-willed and experienced team members with firmness, clarity, and professionalism.
- Set measurable performance expectations and hold team accountable for results.
- Partner with HR and executive leadership on hiring, coaching, and discipline when necessary.
- Conduct performance reviews and develop training plans.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and internal policies.
- Enforce quality control processes and documentation.
- Address operational issues immediately to minimize downtime.
- Identify workflow inefficiencies and implement process improvements.
- Improve communication between shop, PM team, and shipping.
- Support technology adoption and operational system improvements.
- 3-5+ years of fabrication or manufacturing experience (ductile experience preferred).
- 3-5+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong ability to manage assertive or experienced team members.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and project specifications.
- Strong scheduling and organizational skills.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, email, and production tracking systems.
- Demonstrated ability to improve operational performance.
