CNC Machine Shop Production Manager
Location: Houston, TX
Industry: Precision Machining / Manufacturing
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced CNC Machine Shop Production Manager to oversee daily machining operations, optimize production efficiency, and lead a skilled team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC machining, production planning, quality control, and team leadership. This role is responsible for ensuring production targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules are consistently met while maintaining a safe and organized shop environment.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee daily CNC machining operations including mills, lathes, and multi‑axis equipment.
- Lead, train, and supervise machinists, operators, and shop personnel.
- Coordinate production schedules to meet delivery commitments and customer deadlines.
- Monitor workflow and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and throughput.
- Ensure all parts meet quality and dimensional requirements.
- Work closely with engineering, programming, and quality teams to resolve technical issues.
- Maintain compliance with ISO quality standards and safety policies.
- Monitor machine utilization, tooling requirements, and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Manage shop performance metrics and production reporting.
- 5+ years of CNC machining experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of CNC mills, lathes, tooling, and machining processes.
- Experience with production planning and scheduling in a machine shop environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production tracking.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience with AS9100 is a plus.
