Job Description
As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for supporting the designated division or department through the handling, organization, and record‑keeping of needed materials. This includes inventory control, maintaining accurate equipment and supply records, and facilitating the stocking and restocking of material needs throughout a designated shop area.
Essential Responsibilities- Responsible for the receipt, stocking, and record‑keeping of new and existing materials.
- Communicate with staff and management to identify material needs.
- Fill workstations with appropriate hardware and material as identified.
- Maintain records of materials using a scanner or designated computer program.
- May utilize a forklift to transport, load, and unload materials.
- Learn and adhere to all safety policies and practices to avoid safety incidents.
- Learn and adhere to all manufacturing policies and practices to ensure consistent production.
- Ensure quality by following standard work/process instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality.
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma.
- Capable of working in a fast‑paced manufacturing atmosphere.
- Ability to learn computer systems, databases, and a variety of software programs.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to walk, stand, and be physically active for extended periods.
- Fluent in English and capable of communicating with co‑workers.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Previous experience in an industrial or warehouse setting.
- Ability to multi‑task with attention to detail.
- Capable of maintaining an organized work area.
- Self‑motivated and proactive.
- Willing to work flexible shifts, including days, nights, and weekends as needed.
- Safety‑sensitive position in a temperature‑controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes, hard hats, bump caps, safety glasses, hearing protection at times, and safety harnesses/fall protection equipment as required.
- Must be able to work from all types of ladders (step ladders, A‑frame ladders continuously and/or scissor lifts while performing overhead work).
- Working at heights usually no higher than 10 feet in the air on an elevated structure using proper lift equipment.
- Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs or step ladders.
- Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction.
- Continuous standing and walking.
- Able to use upper extremities frequently, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently.
- Must be able to meet physical lifting demand up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent use of hand tools and power tools.
