The Operations Manager oversees daily operations within a steel fabrication facility, aligning production, project execution, quality, and scheduling to ensure safe, on-time, and cost-effective delivery. This role focuses on shop-wide coordination, production planning, and continuous improvement across multiple departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage an integrated, shop-wide production schedule in coordination with Project Management, Production, and Quality teams
  • Monitor project progress, adjust schedules, and manage impacts from delays or scope changes
  • Oversee day-to-day shop operations and ensure workflow alignment across departments
  • Identify bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and critical path risks; implement mitigation plans
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality standards, and company policies
  • Support labor planning, resource utilization, and production efficiency
  • Provide clear operational updates to leadership and internal stakeholders
Required Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of operations or production management experience in steel fabrication
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication processes (cutting, welding, fitting, machining, coating, shipping)
  • Proven experience in production scheduling and workflow optimization
  • Ability to read fabrication drawings and interpret schedules and production metrics
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, ERP/MRP systems (Tekla EPM preferred), and Excel
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Preferred
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent job-shop projects
  • Familiarity with AISC standards and quality systems
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement background
Education & Schedule
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Work hours:

    Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
