Responsible for completing routine welding and fitting assignments within clearly defined processes while working under moderate supervision.

• Uses metal core MIG, fluxcore, subarc, TIG or stick welding processes (must pass two or more)
• May weld brackets and braces and use grinders; may position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools; may perform position welds on code materials
• Proficient in flame and plasma cutting torches
• Be able to read and understand blueprints and perform own fit‑up
• Must be able to operate basic cutting equipment
• May layout and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates
• Positions pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools
• Works with different types and sizes of structural materials
• Safely operates iron worker, overhead cranes, rigging, pipe threading machine, welding machine, tube bending machine, and various pneumatic hand tools
• Assembly of components with some fabrication of equipment needed for the job

• Must be able to pass a 6G weld test; vessel or pipe
• Must be able to pass a written fitters exam

• High school diploma or equivalent or equal combination of education and experience
• Must have five (5) years related experience and/or training; welding school or on‑the‑job training
• Knowledge of different types and sizes of pipe and vessel material

• Lifting up to 50 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 30 pounds
• Bending, squatting, climbing, pulling, stooping, twisting, reaching, working at elevated heights
