Major Areas of ResponsibilityA calibration technician will utilize the following devices and be expected to perform the following types of calibrations and repairs:
- AKO Hydraulic Torque Wrench Testing / Calibration System
- Norbar Manual Torque Wrench Testing / Calibration System
- Gagemaker MT-4000 Precision Tooling Calibration System
- Perform Load Testing of Hoists, and other lifting devices up to 10 Tons. Device – Westlake MSI-7300 Load Cell
- Basic operating knowledge of the tools being tested.
- Perform their own calibration work according to standard operating procedures with little to no supervision.
- Implement, maintain, and improve the management system.
- Identify deviations from the management system or from the procedures for performing laboratory activities and initiate action to prevent or minimize such deviations.
- Report to laboratory management on the performance of the management system and any need for improvement.
- Ensure the effectiveness of laboratory activities.
- Conduct their own research when necessary.
- Coordinate and manage daily workloads without direction from manager.
- Identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques.
- Understand and apply maximum permissible error values to measured results.
Skills and Abilities
To be considered for a calibration technician position, the following knowledge, skills and abilities are required
- Ability to learn new skills in regard to calibration and calibration processes.
- Previous experience with electronic or pressure training preferred.
- Basic mathematical skills including algebra, geometry and statistics.
- Familiarity with basic tools.
- Proficiency with office computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Basic organizational and time management skills.
