Now Hiring:
Structural Fitters (First Shift) —

Location:

Northeast Houston. Pay: $19–$23 per hour.

Openwork is partnering with a respected manufacturing company specializing in premium steel and aluminum bar grating. We are seeking experienced Structural Fitters who are passionate about craftsmanship, precision, and building high-quality structural products that meet rigorous industry standards.

Position Overview

As a Structural Fitter, you will lay out, fit, and assemble metal components with accuracy and attention to detail. This position is ideal for professionals who read blueprints well and are committed to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

Schedule

Monday to Friday: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
Saturday: 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM (as needed).
Overtime available based on production demands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols.
  • Measure, mark, cut, grind, and prepare steel parts for fabrication.
  • Fit and tack weld materials according to specifications.
  • Safely operate forklifts, hoists, and overhead cranes to move materials.
  • Assemble grating panels, stair treads, frames, and related structural components.
  • Inspect assemblies to ensure dimensional accuracy within 1/8-inch tolerance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused workspace.
  • Collaborate effectively with welders, supervisors, and team members to meet production goals.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a structural fitter, fabricator, or in a similar manufacturing role.
  • Handrail Fit-Up Test required.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, grinders, cutting torches, and precision measuring devices.
  • Forklift and crane experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
