CNC Machinist/Operator (Afternoon Shift) Job Description
Join a dynamic team in a large manufacturing facility specializing in pipes, valves, and flanges (PVF). We are seeking skilled CNC machinists/operators to work with Mazak horizontal lathes, focusing on small to medium parts with diameters ranging from 2 to 6 , primarily using carbon steel and occasionally stainless steel. The role involves working with pre-loaded programs, performing minimal edits with G code, and handling parts with longer runtimes and wide open tolerances.
Responsibilities- Operate CNC machines, specifically Mazak horizontal lathes, to machine parts such as flanges.
- Perform setup with minimal edits using G code and Mazatrol controls.
- Ensure precision in machining parts, maintaining tolerances with carbon and stainless steel materials.
- Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and make necessary adjustments.
- Collaborate with team members to improve production efficiency and quality.
- 5+ years of experience in CNC machining or CNC operating.
- Proficiency in operating horizontal lathes with Mazak/Mazatrol controls.
- Experience with G code programming and edits.
- Familiarity with machining carbon steel and stainless steel components.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with VTL (Vertical Turret Lathe) and HBM (Horizontal Boring Mill).
- Knowledge of Fanuc and Siemens controls.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

Work EnvironmentWork in a large and renovated manufacturing shop equipped with OH and jib cranes at every machining station. The environment is open air, non-climate controlled, with large fans to aid air circulation. The diverse team communicates in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese. Steel toes, jeans, work shirt, and safety glasses are required attire. The 2nd shift operates Monday through Friday from 4:00 PM to 1:00 AM, with occasional Saturdays based on production needs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr.
