Summary / Position

Purpose:

The Facilities and Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing operational leadership to our Facility and Maintenance Team and will be the owner of production equipment, preventative maintenance/reliability practices, and facilitate upkeep programs at all assigned sites. This role will oversee day-to-day maintenance activities and will be a key player in strategically aligning sites' Facility/Maintenance Department resources to meet division and corporate goals.

Essential Duties, Functions and/or Responsibilities:
  • Develop standard operating procedures for all maintenance and production equipment related activities (machine set up, operation to specifications of work order/process description, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain a Preventative Maintenance (PM) program for all FAB sites.
  • Manage the maintenance spare parts inventory.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting/technical support to production during equipment failures.
  • Oversee "Pit Crew" changeover team and fill-in as needed.
  • Manage relationships with contractors (such as electrical, AC, compressor, etc.) and service providers.
  • Utilize LEAN tools (such as Kaizens, 5S, etc.) to improve maintenance operations effectiveness and to increase department efficiency.
  • Document cost savings from continuous improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with the Production and Fab Ops Supervisors to maintain safety culture.
  • Educate and enforce all OSHA rules regarding machine operations and PPE.
  • Collaborate with ESRs and Sales Team on New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Ensure strong alignment of department goals, KPI metrics, and targets with the plant's vision (PM completion %, Equipment availability/downtime, OEE, etc.).
  • Participate in assigned team functions and projects.
  • Participate in external audits, AS9100, when necessary.
  • Maintain proper maintenance logs on all production equipment and tools per QMS policy.
  • Indirectly responsible for product quality.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • 6+ years' industrial maintenance and repair experience.
  • Experience leading Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen projects a plus.
  • Possess or willing to acquire maintenance related certifications within 3 years after hire.
  • Reading, writing and comprehension of English language as it relates to instructions and preparing necessary paperwork.
  • English/Spanish language skills a plus.
  • Project management skills a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Self-directed, detail oriented, and team player.
  • Strong analytical and time management skills.
  • Ability to drive, motivate, influence, and sustain positive change.
  • Positive team attitude.
  • Subject to drug testing for on-the-job accidents.
  • Proficient in MS Office products:
    Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven skills in time management; this includes the ability to work with production schedules, people, and equipment to maximize efficiency.
  • Proven mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Knowledge of fabrication equipment, including but not limited to, flatbed presses, rotary presses, lathe slitters, etc.
  • Attentive to detail; safety conscious, working knowledge of accident prevention practices.
  • Working knowledge must include pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and plumbing.
  • Willing to travel to Pre Con facilities when needed - 10-15% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. on occasion.
