Tube Mill Operator

Insight Global is seeking a Tube Mill Operator to join our manufacturing team in Houston, TX. This role is responsible for operating and maintaining tube mill equipment to produce high-quality welded stainless steel tubing. The ideal candidate has hands-on tube mill or ERW mill experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor cold-laser tube mill equipment producing welded stainless steel tubing.

• Perform mill setup, tooling checks, and laser weld alignment.

• Verify materials and packaging against production documentation.

• Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections and make adjustments to maintain quality standards.

• Perform weld verification using eddy current testing, acid wash, and microscope inspection.

• Measure tubing using precision tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) and accurately record results in the WIP/production system.

• Generate accurate production, quality, and traceability documentation.

• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and communicate effectively with support staff.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and follow all required PPE and safety guidelines.

This position is fully onsite, direct hire, and the hourly range is between $27-$32/hr.

Required Skills & Experience

• 1+ year of tube mill or ERW mill experience.

• ERW experience may include stainless steel or tubing; general welding experience is acceptable.

• Strong general mechanical knowledge and comfort working with industrial equipment.

• Solid problem-solving ability and strong communication skills.

• Ability to read and interpret work instructions, technical requirements, and safety procedures.

• Basic math proficiency related to measurements, tolerances, and geometry.
High attention to detail with a quality- and safety-focused mindset.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience with cold laser welding systems.

• Experience using eddy current inspection equipment.

• Familiarity with acid wash testing and microscope-based weld evaluation.

• Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.

• TIG welding experience is a plus.

• Strong communicator who can collaborate across teams.
