Overview
Ryder is immediately hiring permanent full-time Skilled and Construction Laborers to ensure expert craftsmanship at our manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas.
Manufacturing and Construction positions pay weekly.
Roles and Responsibilities- Repair or assemble pallets using a pneumatic nail gun, powered saw, and other powered/hand tools.
- Position pallets on repair tables, remove defective boards, replace with new boards, and secure boards into place.
- Safely operate equipment and maintain a clean, orderly work area; stand for long periods (8–10 hours) and lift up to 75 pounds throughout the shift.
- Perform additional duties as required for pallet repair and related tasks.
Additional notes:
Products being handled are pallets; equipment includes hammer, pry bar, and power tools such as nail gun, grinder, and saw.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 0 to 1 year in carpentry or construction background preferred
- Ability to comprehend basic math
- Ability to operate power tools in a safe manner
- Must be able to follow repair process
- Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 lbs using proper techniques
- Capable of standing and walking for extended periods (at least 2 hours straight, four times in an 8-hour day)
- Able to use hands and feet simultaneously and perform repetitive movements

Important Note:
Some positions require additional screening which may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or customer-specific badging or background requirements.
- Safely and securely repair pallets at a rate that meets company standards and safety guidelines
- Operate a pry bar to detach damaged boards from pallets
- Use a hammer, grinder, and saw to remove nails and assemble components with a 25 lb nail gun
- Manually lift pallets from stacks to repair tables
- Ensure pallets meet CHEP quality control audit requirements
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area and promote safety
- Comply with OSHA and MSDS standards and wear safety equipment while repairing pallets
- Perform other duties as required
