Role Synopsis

The Machinist IV will perform setups and machine components on various CNC machines using knowledge of machining to optimize the machining process.

Essential

Job Duties:
  • Read and interpret Engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Perform setups on CNC machines to include:
  • Loading and editing of the program as needed
  • Jaw/fixture selection and loading
  • Loading, building, and teaching of tooling per program instructions
  • Machine components in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Perform component inspection using precision measuring equipment (micrometers, dial bore gages, thread gages etc.)
  • Deburr/polish part as needed
  • Promote company initiatives of Lean Manufacturing/ Continuous Improvement.
  • Work with little to no supervision and to train and assist other CNC machinists.
  • Perform daily and weekly preventative maintenance on CNC machines.
  • Perform other work-related tasks, as assigned.
Required

Education:
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
Preferred Education:
  • Machining trade school
Required Skills/

Experience:
  • 10+ years as CNC machinist primarily with FANUC or MAZAK controls.
  • Knowledge of G & M codes and editing the CNC program as needed
  • Ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Ability to perform own set-ups.
  • Strong shop math skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills along with basic computer skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of GD&T with the ability to inspect parts.
  • Ability to read and edit G & M codes, teach tools, and load programs.
  • Ability to perform setups on CNC machines – lathe, mill, or mill-turn machines
  • Thorough knowledge of tooling, materials and cutting parameters.

Physical Requirements:
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, sit, and walk for 8 to 12 hours per day.
  • Physical Dexterity required; ability to ascend/descend ladders; ability to lift, push, pull, and move objects fifty (50) pounds or more.
  • Ability to wear and utilize Personal Protective Safety Equipment (PPE). Required equipment includes steel toed shoes, safety glasses/goggles. Additional PPE may be required, e.g., safety harnesses, Fire Retardant Clothing (FRC), hard hats, or other as assigned.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and/or overtime if required.
