Vessel Fitter Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for fitting and fabricating vessels and shell plates to construct water towers and storage tanks. You will utilize blueprints and drawings to determine the orientation and degrees of a vessel. This role involves laying out, fitting up, and welding using flux core for structural and tack welds.
Responsibilities- Fit and fabricate vessels and shell plates using blueprints and drawings.
- Determine orientation and degrees of vessels.
- Lay out, fit up, and weld using flux core techniques.
- Perform structural and tack welding using flux core.
- Operate cutting torch and perform take offs.
- 5 years of vessel fitting experience.
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
- Proficient in welding using flux core without back gouging.
- Capability to perform own layouts and fit ups.
- Experience in fitting pressure vessels.
- Ability to read tape measure and operate cutting torch.
Skills & Qualifications
- 10 years of experience highly preferred.
- Excellent skills with blueprints and drawings.
- Experience utilizing a peddimaster - Peddinghaus machine on structural steel components.
- Experience building or fitting storage tanks or water towers.
- Forklift and overhead crane operation.
- Band saw experience.

Work EnvironmentThis is a non-climate controlled, industrial environment. The position starts on day shift, working from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with Saturdays as needed. After six months, the shift will change to nights for 2‑4 months, working from 4:15 p.m. to 2:45 a.m., Monday through Friday, with a $1.25 shift differential. Rotation back to days will occur after the night shift period.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX 77064.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.50 - $29.00/hr.
