What Youll Do:

Sets up and operates manual machines, including mills and lathes, to perform machining operations by performing the following responsibilities:

• Read, process sheets, blueprints, and sketches of parts to determine machining requirements, dimensional specifications, setup, and operating requirements
• Interpret work instructions
• Identify, select and install proper tooling for operations being performed
• Calculate proper feeds and speeds for a variety of steel grades, copper, brass, aluminum and bronze
• Understand tooling and machinery capabilities
• Understand applicable quality systems and perform necessary quality inspections
• Adhere to Waukesha Bearings policies and procedures
• Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce setup times and improve productivity
• Actively participate in daily Continuous Improvement activities
• Set up and routinely check calibration of measuring equipment

• Experience with Mills Machines; ideally EC1600
• Experience using Gibbs Cam software is strongly preferred
• Proficiency with precision inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges)
• Proven ability to hold tight machining tolerances of less than .001

• One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Regularly required to stand and communicate; may need to walk, sit, use hands, and perceive
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne substances

The role involves working with various machinery and metalworking materials in a machine shop environment with cutting fluids, lubricants, and metal shavings. PPE such as safety glasses, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, and gloves must be worn, and safety procedures followed.
