DescriptionWe are currently looking for a Welder I to be based out of Houston, TX. Reporting to the Supervisor, the Welder I will be responsible for welding various cable tray products. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.
What you’ll do:- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑speed environment, follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
- Perform setup, adjustments and operation of welding machines within the department
- Use basic fabricating tools (e.g., tape measure)
- Interpret drawings and fabricate based off blueprints
- Fabricate per customer requirements adhering to specifications
- Actively participate in Atkore’s safety program
- Cross train in different areas of the shop as required
- Ensure all processes are carried out with the required use of safety controls and PPE
- All other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent (preferred)
- Technical School Welding Certificate (preferred)
- 6+ months welding experience
- Ability to work scheduled hours Monday‑Friday
- Ability to read a tape measure
- Ability to squat, bend and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand and work a 10‑hour shift in a non‑climate‑controlled manufacturing environment
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may sometimes be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the plant environment can be loud. Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. The job involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. The manufacturing plant is not climate controlled.
Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment including safety glasses, hearing protectors, hi‑visibility uniforms, and steel‑toe work boots.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $21.00. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs, and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
