Position SummaryThe Shipping Expeditor ensures customer orders, fabricated products, and outbound shipments are prepared, packaged, documented, and shipped accurately and on time. This role coordinates closely with production, logistics, and customer service to track order status, resolve delays, and maintain an efficient outbound workflow.
Responsibilities- Monitor daily shipment schedule to ensure customer orders are prioritized and completed on time.
- Coordinate with production teams to identify parts or assemblies needed to complete shipments.
- Ensure all products are properly packaged, labeled, and staged for pick‑up.
- Verify quantities against pick lists, packing slips, and customer order requirements.
- Track order progress and follow up on missing, delayed, or incomplete items.
- Communicate shipment readiness and delays to supervisors, planners, and customer service.
- Prepare packing lists, BOLs, and carrier documentation.
- Update ERP or shipping software with shipment status and tracking details.
- Coordinate with freight carriers and resolve pick‑up or delivery issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety, DOT, and facility shipping guidelines.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1–4 years of warehouse, shipping/receiving, or logistics experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills; prior experience with inventory systems a plus.
- Good communication skills and ability to work with cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.
- Must be able to pass pre‑employment screenings and background checks.
- Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and teamwork.
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods (8+ hours).
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. independently.
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and manual handling of materials required.
- Good hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to tolerate noise, heat, and dust in a manufacturing environment.
- Visual acuity to read measuring tools, drawings, and detect quality defects.
- Must pass initial and ongoing physical or occupational health screenings (e.g., lifting assessment, vision test, hearing test, etc.).
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including steel‑toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
Manufacturing floor with exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp materials, and moderate to loud noise. May be exposed to hot or cold environments depending on season. Work schedule may include overtime, weekend shifts, or on‑call schedules as needed.
