The Lighting & Electrical Assistant plays a key support role within the Pappas Design Team, mainly supporting the Lighting & A/V Designer by assisting with technical drawings and details as well as maintaining documentation of lighting and audio‑visual standards, systems, and materials. The position requires a strong foundation in technical drafting and design, proficiency in CAD software, and strong project‑management skills.

Attention to detail and organizational skills are key to being successful in this role.

Responsibilities
  • Develop lighting/electrical plans & detail drawings in CAD for new build and remodel projects.
  • Create and maintain fixture schedules and cut sheet packages/specification books.
  • Create and maintain restaurant lighting standards guides.
  • Conduct site visits to survey existing conditions and evaluate facilities requests.
  • Create work orders for facilities maintenance requests and coordinate with electricians in the field executing the work orders.
  • Assist with lighting procurement and order logistics.
  • Review and redline consultant drawings for accuracy and compliance with brand standards.
  • Assist with lighting calculations, photometric analysis, or fixture performance evaluations.
  • Maintain digital libraries of lighting assets, CAD blocks, BIM families, and AV system components.
  • Support A/V Designer with documentation for speaker layouts, control systems, and wiring diagrams.
  • Track project milestones, deliverables, and drawing revisions using project‑management tools.
  • Assist in vendor coordination, lead times, and value‑engineering efforts when required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Lighting Design, Interior Design, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • Background in hospitality, architectural, or theatrical lighting design a plus.
  • Background in electrical engineering a plus.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Excel. Photoshop, InDesign, and Sketch Up knowledge a plus.
  • Positive and professional attitude and able to collaborate well with others.
Physical Job Functions
  • Ability to perform a manual data input function for up to 50% of an 8‑hour day on a regular basis.
  • Position requires a focused, self‑starter with the ability to multi‑task and work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure with good organizational and project‑management skills.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and nights as needed.
  • Ability to travel occasionally as needed.
