Overview

Do you have strong experience in dog welfare and enjoy supporting others to deliver high standards every day? At Dogs Trust, we’re looking for a confident and welfare-focused Dog Welfare Supervisor to support daily kennel operations and help maintain consistent, high-quality care across our Rehoming Centre. This role is hands-on and people-facing, providing day-to-day guidance to Dog Welfare Assistants and supporting smooth, welfare-led dog care.

What

You’ll Be Doing
  • Coordinate daily kennel routines, including cleaning, feeding, enrichment and welfare checks.
  • Support Dog Welfare Assistants through guidance, coaching and problem-solving.
  • Take responsibility for the Development Block as a flagship example of best practice.
  • Support induction and first shifts for new starters and volunteers.
  • Monitor welfare standards and escalate concerns where needed.
  • Work closely with Behaviour, Veterinary and Rehoming teams to support dog progression.
  • Ensure accurate records and clear handovers across shift.

  • Strong experience in dog welfare and kennel operations.
  • Confidence supporting and guiding others in a busy environment.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Calm, welfare-led decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Commitment to Dogs Trust’s mission and values.
Desirable
  • Experience supporting staff or volunteer induction.
  • Understanding of dog behaviour and low-stress handling principles.
  • Experience working in a rehoming or rescue environment.
