Overview
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Inventory Specialist to lead and manage all aspects of Inventory located in Houston. This role encompasses the oversight of lubricant procurement and inventory management, with direct responsibility in ensuring the efficient movement of goods across all branches.
The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in managing lubricant supply chains, logistics, and warehouse supervision, combined with excellent leadership and communication skills to drive operational success and the effective management of all personnel and resources.
Responsibilities- Inventory Oversight & Strategic Planning: Lead Lubricant Operations:
Oversee all aspects of lubricant operations, including procurement, inventory management, and distribution across all locations. - Collaborate with Supply Chain Director and Operational staff: Work closely with the Supply Chain Director to develop and implement strategies for ordering, supply chain management, and inventory control that align with company goals.
- Forecasting & Demand Planning: Ensure that lubricant supply levels are maintained to meet operational and customer demands, minimizing excess inventory and stockouts.
- Warehouse Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Houston Warehouse, ensuring proper storage, organization, and timely shipping of lubricants. Manage warehouse capacity, layout, and inventory levels for maximum efficiency.
- Optimize Operations: Identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiency improvements, reducing waste, cutting costs, and streamlining workflows in both lubricant operations and warehouse management.
- Collaboration and Team Management:
- Warehouse Team Development: Mentor and support warehouse personnel through training and leadership to enhance their skills and ensure a high-performance culture within the team.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with teams such as tank department, dispatch, and drivers to ensure seamless coordination across all lubricant operations and warehouse functions.
- Monitor inquiries submitted to the “Lube Analytics” mailbox in a timely manner.
- Manage vendor pricing and maintain accurate pricing records
- Accurately create, manage and receive inventory and non-inventory purchase orders.
- Performance Management: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to warehouse and lubricant operations, providing regular reports and feedback to management on team performance, cost-efficiency, and delivery accuracy.
- Monitor open lubricant orders and purchase orders across all warehouses.
- Monitor KPIs & Performance Metrics: Develop and track KPIs related to warehouse operations, procurement, inventory management, and logistics performance. Provide detailed reports to senior management on opportunities for process improvements.
- Process Optimization: Lead the identification and implementation of best practices to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness of lubricant operations and warehouse functions.
- Sustainability Practices: Promote and lead sustainability efforts within warehouse and lubricant operations, ensuring responsible procurement, storage, and transportation of products.
- Experience in Lubricant Operations: Proven experience in managing lubricant operations, logistics, and warehouse management within the oil and energy sector.
- Leadership & Warehouse Management
Experience:
Strong track record of leading teams, particularly warehouse personnel, and optimizing warehouse operations to improve efficiency and productivity. - Supply Chain and Inventory Management: Experience in supply chain management, inventory control, and demand forecasting for lubricants, with expertise in optimizing warehouse space and resources.
- Safety & Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and safety protocols related to warehouse management and lubricant handling.
- Problem-Solving & Decision Making: Strong analytical and decision-making skills to address challenges in warehouse operations, inventory management, and supply chain coordination.
- Excellent Communication
Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills for engaging with cross-functional teams, customers, and senior management. - Proficiency in MS Office & Warehouse Management Systems: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with warehouse management and inventory control software.
- Ability to sit, stand, and work on a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Ability to manage stress, multitask, and maintain composure while solving problems.
- Must be able to travel as needed for vendor meetings and site visits.
