Head of Environment, Health, and Safety

Overview

We are hiring a Head of Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) to lead and advance the enterprise-wide safety and environmental strategy across a national, multi-site organization.

This role is critical to how they protect their people, support clients, and operate responsibly as they continue to grow. The right leader will bring both strategic perspective and hands-on execution someone who can influence at the executive level while staying close to the work in the field.

As Head of HSE, you will:

• Own and execute the company’s enterprise-wide HSE strategy aligned with business objectives
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
• Drive a proactive, values-based safety culture across field, laboratory, and operational environments
• Lead incident management, investigations, audits, and corrective action processes
• Build and deliver executive-level dashboards, KPIs, and Board-ready reporting
• Evaluate, implement, and optimize HSE systems, tools, and training programs
• Partner closely with Operations, HR, Quality, and executive leadership
• Lead, mentor, and develop a lean HSE team supporting multiple locations

This role is best suited for a senior HSE leader who thrives in complex, regulated environments and enjoys building structure while remaining operationally engaged.

• 10+ years of progressive HSE leadership experience, including senior-level responsibility
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and environmental compliance requirements
• Experience supporting field-based, industrial, laboratory, or environmental operations
• The ability to influence leaders and operators at all levels of the organization
• A track record of strengthening safety culture—not just maintaining programs
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM, PE) strongly preferred
