Position Summary

The Client Accounting Manager is responsible for managing and monitoring the daily activities of assigned Client Accounting staff and ensuring that all Transwestern/Owner policies and procedures are consistently followed for assigned properties. The Manager reviews reports, reconciliations, and other financial information to ensure accuracy and consistency. The Manager works closely with Property Management and Clients to meet all reporting deadlines. The Manager provides mentoring to staff and fosters a positive, healthy team culture.

The Manager also leads knowledge, training, and utilization of the assigned real estate accounting software (e.g., MRI, Yardi, P2P, Click Pay, Client Accounting Systems, etc.). The role delivers the Transwestern Experience when interacting with tenants, owners, vendors and team members.

Essential Job Functions
  • Direct and manage professional staff daily; understand each staff member’s responsibilities and suggest process changes and improvements.
  • Screen, hire, supervise, mentor and train staff; may initiate disciplinary actions, including terminations.
  • Prepare and review monthly accounting calendars to ensure deadlines are met and reporting requirements (including mortgages and taxes) are documented.
  • Provide Treasury Management oversight, disbursement approvals and signatory on client bank accounts.
  • Perform detailed review of financial reports, reconciliations and related information to ensure compliance with Owner Policies, Procedures and Management Agreement.
  • Prepare checklists and tools to ensure proper recording of financial transactions per policies and procedures.
  • Assist in annual budget preparation with property management; review budgets prepared by property managers.
  • Assist in annual expenses recovery reconciliation; review calculations for accuracy.
  • Review and approve new vendors and changes to existing vendors; activate vendors in accounting systems.
  • Review and post tenant adjustments; review and approve bank reconciliations; approve invoices in applicable payables systems.
  • Maintain mortgage, property tax and sales tax tracking to ensure timely payments.
  • Assist in managing new project takeovers, coordinating with accountants, clients, property management and Treasury.
  • Provide guidance and training in the use of accounting software (MRI, Yardi, P2P, Click Pay, Client Accounting Systems, etc.) as required.
  • Oversee maintenance, review, and filing of required accounting documentation into Prop
    360; train staff on Prop
    360 filing requirements as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor, colleagues, clients, auditors, tax preparers and team members as required.
  • Perform or assume additional client accounting duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in accounting or finance; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum 7+ years of recent fee-based property management accounting experience preferred.
