The Opportunity

Allen Austin is representing a highly respected, employee-owned engineering and professional services firm in the search for a Corporate Controller
. This is a high-impact leadership role for an accomplished financial executive with deep technical expertise, proven leadership, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, project-based environment.

The Corporate Controller will be a strategic partner to the executive team, overseeing all aspects of financial operations, compliance, and reporting while driving process improvements, ERP optimization, and scalable infrastructure to support growth. This role requires a leader who can blend precision with progress—ensuring accuracy and compliance while advancing systems, processes, and team capability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and project-based accounting.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, delivering accurate and timely GAAP-compliant financial statements.
• Oversee project accounting practices and government contract compliance, ensuring cost tracking and reporting align with contract requirements.
• Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors, maintaining strong internal controls and governance.
• Advance ERP capabilities, specifically Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), to drive automation, data integrity, and business intelligence.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to provide financial insights that inform decision-making, budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning.
• Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing accounting team aligned with organizational culture and growth goals.

The Ideal Candidate

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; advanced degree or MBA preferred.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, with at least 5 years as a senior or corporate controller.
• Expertise in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) and Power BI
  , with proven ability to optimize ERP functionality.
• Strong background in project-based accounting and government contract compliance
  .
• Deep technical accounting knowledge with a strong command of GAAP, internal controls, and audit readiness.
• Skilled communicator with executive presence and the ability to engage senior leadership and Boards.
• Collaborative leader who can inspire, mentor, and elevate a high-performing accounting team.
