ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall management of projects throughout their lifecycle. They define, plan, track and manage projects, identify key resources, provide direction, and meet project objectives. They lead cross‑functional teams to deliver defined outputs on time, within budget, and to quality criteria, ensuring adherence to project‑management methodology practices, coaching teams, evaluating performance, and reinforcing enterprise knowledge management.
Tasks- Define appropriate delivery model for customer project as a composition of pre‑defined services, on‑site and/or remote delivery
- Scope and estimate the engagement
- Determine required resources for the project
- Understand and be able to deliver according to the SAP delivery models – e.g., local, near‑shore and off‑shore teams for most efficient delivery, coordinating across organizational boundaries including SAP ecosystem partners
- Assess, document, and communicate risk for the engagement
- Position SAP Activate as the delivery methodology for customer engagement, program, or project
- Conduct project planning activities and manage execution according to plan (Opportunity Management, initiating to closing…)
- Manage relationships with stakeholders, keep informed of progress, risks, and issues to manage expectations on all requirements and deliverables
- Communicate a clear vision of the project’s objectives and motivate the team to achieve them; create a project environment that enables peak performance
- Ensure proper use of SAP Activate methodology, tools, and procedures
- Ensure governance is in place and operates effectively to meet objectives
- Provide oversight over the end‑to‑end SAP engagement where required, bringing together silos and ensuring delivery accountability
- Balance the triple‑constraint (time, cost, scope) to realize expected business value
- Deliver SAP primed Fixed‑Price Projects (FPP) or Time and Material (T&M) engagements
- Proactively identify changes in scope early and plan accordingly with stakeholders to reassess scope, budget and timeline
- Manage financial aspects: budgeting, estimate‑to‑actual variance, quality forecasting for accurate financial position
- Analyze risk, establish contingency plans, identify trigger events and responsibilities for mitigating action
- Escalate issues early to account or delivery management
- Define successful closure, obtain acceptance and sign‑off by all parties
- Plan and execute formal Quality Gate process following the Q‑Gate approach in SAP Activate methodology
- Proactively manage stakeholder satisfaction to secure customer reference and success story
- Engage with SSP or SSL if applicable to ensure P&L targets and KPIs are achieved; collaborate closely with SSP or SSL on delivery topics
- Present project management reviews with customers and manage deployment effectively
- Mentor teams to ensure implementation of enterprise project‑management methodology, standards, and processes
- Coach to clarify assignments and deliverables, review quality of work, integrate team members’ work, and provide performance input to their functional managers
- Take responsibility as team lead when required and support line managers in people development tasks
- Maintain project documentation and update relevant knowledge‑management bases; analyse lessons learned and share with the project‑management community
- Participate in the development of project‑management best practices
- 5+ years of experience in software implementation project management; utilities industry a plus
- 3+ years of experience in the utilities industry highly beneficial
