Locksmith

SUMMARY

The Locksmith is responsible for installing and maintaining all physical locking systems in all the buildings in various campuses throughout the system and maintaining a preventive maintenance program.

• Replace all types of locking systems with originally installed components, converts the hardware to a standard locking system.
• Install and maintain commonly used door hardware.
• Operate key cutting machinery including computer operated, automatic, manual and punch ones.
• Re-pin removable lock cores for single and master keys operation.
• Implement schedule of locks to be re-keyed that are currently in use at buildings throughout the Colleges.
• Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Troubleshoot locking problems including all door and entrance hardware.
• Clean, maintain and repair shop tools and equipment.
• Lift 50 lbs and climb a ladder.
• May be required to travel between various HCC locations.
• Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma/GED required
• 2 years education or training in HVAC, Mechanical, Control Systems or formal craft/trade preferred
• 18 months experience in building maintenance required, including 6 months in lock repair

Licensing & Certification

• Valid Texas Driver License

General Office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner.
