PositionDescription:
The Maintenance Technician aims to improve production by maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment, overseeing the Maintenance Department, and coordinating with contractors at SSAB Houston. Responsibilities include analyzing technical data, ensuring equipment is installed correctly, and maintained in safe working condition. The technician also focuses on minimizing downtime and costs, managing inventory, and leading maintenance efforts.
Primary Responsibilities Essential Responsibilities / Functions:Maintenance
- Monitor and repair the Temper Line and Plasma/Oxy-Fuel Table electronics, electrical, and mechanical equipment to ensure efficiency and minimal downtime.
- Lead or perform general maintenance tasks, including lubrication, monitoring, repairs, preventive maintenance, and inspections. Report additional resource needs to the Operations Manager.
- Follow all procedures outlined in ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001 manuals, and adhere to safety regulations.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules with production during downtime.
- Supervise maintenance team and contractors to ensure timely and within-budget completion of tasks.
- Manage computerized preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all equipment.
- Generate and improve maintenance PM programs, identify potential issues, and initiate improvements.
- Communicate with operators to ensure smooth operations and detect problems early.
- Maintain regular attendance and office presence.
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatics, and PLC troubleshooting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organizational and computer skills.
- Previous supervisory experience in maintenance.
- Experience with computerized PM systems.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Technical education with at least 3 years of related maintenance experience.
First and second shift maintenance technicians report to this position.
Work Environment &Physical Requirements:
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 35 lbs. Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, and pushing. Must have good vision and hearing capabilities. Use of tools and equipment, including cranes, welding, and forklifts, is required. Work involves exposure to noise, moving equipment, and environmental hazards, requiring PPE.
Position Details:Full-time, non-exempt position with overtime eligibility. Shift: 1:30 pm – 9:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
