Deputy - Part-Time - Transportation

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Transportation & Hospital Security Unit deputies transport prisoners to and from various locations within the state.

• Must be an Honorably Retired Peace Officer.
• A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in law enforcement, record management, or a related field.
• Must have an active TCOLE Peace Officer License.
• A minimum of one (1) year of experience in conflict resolution.
• Texas Driver’s License.
• Applicant must be willing to be trained or obtain a Class B or higher Texas Commercial Driver’s License with a passenger endorsement with air brakes within the first year of being transferred to Transportation.
• Agree to commit to the Transportation Unit; the length of time will be determined at a later date.

• Detention Standard Operating Procedures and County Policies.

• Proficient in the use of standard office software programs such as RMS, MS Office, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work with little supervision.

• Perform searches of inmates, including those with medical issues and in a hospital bed.
• Perform other assignments and duties as required and/or necessary.

• TASER Certified.
• Bilingual.

This is a part-time temporary position without benefits.

• A minimum of 20 hours per week with a maximum of 30 hours per week.
• Hours are based on the needs of the department.
• Possibly including Weekends and Holidays.
