Paralegal

Description

We are looking for a dedicated Paralegal with Probate experience to join our team in Houston, Texas.

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting families, preserving property ownership, and fostering community growth. As a key team member, you will collaborate closely with attorneys to provide essential legal assistance. This is a Long-term Contract position within the non-profit sector.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct client intakes to assess eligibility for services provided by the organization.

- Assist attorneys with drafting legal documents, including pleadings and memorandums.

- Guide clients through the process of compiling genealogies for heirs' property cases.

- Oversee estate administration in probate court, ensuring all filings and procedures are completed accurately.

- Maintain a detailed and organized database to support grant reporting and compliance.

- Ensure proper file organization and preparation of court documents, adhering to legal standards.

- Support litigation efforts by managing discovery, trial preparation, and related tasks.

- Utilize case management software effectively to track and manage legal workflows.

- Collaborate with attorneys to address civil litigation and probate law matters.

Requirements

- Probate experience strongly preferred.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey legal concepts clearly.

- Solid understanding of legal terminology, research methods, and court procedures.

- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple tasks effectively.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.

- Knowledge of probate law, civil litigation, and trial preparation processes.

- Analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex legal scenarios.

- Commitment to confidentiality and sound judgment in handling sensitive information.
