Position: Litigation Associate (1-3 years)

Overview

Hendershot Cowart P.C. is seeking a Litigation Associate with 1-3 years of experience to join our Houston office. The role will include special emphasis on commercial litigation from case inception, discovery and motion practice through mediation or trial. The qualified candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, a high degree of maturity, a willingness to learn, and a desire to accept significant responsibility and manage a challenging workload within a fast-paced environment.

Position responsibilities
  • Analyze, research and draft briefs addressing sophisticated legal issues on complex litigation, ranging from state and federal court motions to dismiss, summary judgment and motions to compel and appeals
  • Draft and maintain proof charts
  • Prepare discovery, briefing, and research
  • Make court appearances for hearings and trials
  • Participate in administrative hearings before OSHA, Texas Medical Board, Centers for Medicare Services and other state and federal agencies
  • Attend and assist in taking depositions
  • Participate in administrative hearings
  • Participate in mediations
  • Collaborate closely with partners, senior associates, and paralegals to ensure work product aligns with overall case strategy
Requirements for consideration
  • Good standing with the Texas State Bar
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and synthesize large sets of documents and data into organized factual work product.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and project-management abilities, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to work effectively on teams and communicate clearly with attorneys and litigation support professionals.
  • Practice in both State and Federal courts
