About the RoleWe are seeking a Solutions Engineer to support a Fortune 200 oil and gas client in Houston, TX. This role will support an internal application that manages financial and operational approval workflows across the organization.
The Solutions Engineer will play a critical role in application support, coordination, and ongoing enhancement, working closely with business users, finance teams, and IT stakeholders. This position is well-suited for someone with a computer science or IT background who enjoys being hands-on with applications, thrives in a chat-heavy support environment, and is highly organized when managing requests across multiple teams.
Oil and gas experience is preferred, along with familiarity with financial approval processes and enterprise application environments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, communicative, and comfortable serving as a go-to resource for application support and issue resolution.
This position requires on-site work at the client’s Houston office and includes approximately 10% travel.
Responsibilities- Support and maintain an internal application used to manage financial and operational approval workflows.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for application-related questions, issues, and support requests.
- Collaborate with business users, finance teams, and IT stakeholders to troubleshoot issues and resolve application defects.
- Coordinate across multiple teams to ensure timely communication, issue resolution, and follow-through.
- Monitor application performance and identify opportunities for process and system improvements.
- Assist with configuration changes, enhancements, and minor feature updates in collaboration with development teams.
- Support testing, validation, and user acceptance activities related to application updates.
- Develop and maintain clear system, process, and support documentation.
- Maintain organized tracking of requests, issues, and resolutions in a fast-paced, chat-heavy environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Prior experience working in IT, application support, or solutions engineering roles.
- Oil and gas industry experience preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple support requests simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with comfort working across technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
- Experience supporting applications related to financial approvals, accounting, or operational workflows.
- Familiarity with enterprise systems such as ERP or financial reporting platforms.
- Working knowledge of SQL, Python, or similar technologies is a plus.
- Experience in a highly collaborative, enterprise-scale environment.
