The Opportunity

Wood Mackenzie is the leading global provider of real, interconnected data about global energy markets. We are currently expanding our Trading Solutions portfolio to deliver next-generation, real-time decision support tools for the world’s most sophisticated energy traders. We are seeking a Vice President of Product to lead the evolution of our high-frequency data and analytics suite. In this role, you will lead the product strategy for our trading analytics solutions that span gas, oils, power and other commodities, bridging the gap between our deep proprietary data assets and the high-speed requirements of modern trading desks.

This is a unique opportunity to build and scale net-new applications that leverage cutting-edge machine learning and real-time data ingestion.

You will build, lead, develop and drive a world class product management team of product directors and product managers who are responsible for product strategy refinement, execution, and planning, delivering product enhancements, monitoring and transparently reporting progress, owning return on investments, and communicating with a large and varied stakeholder group.

The Mandate
  • Accelerate Product Innovation:
Lead the transition toward high-velocity, AI/ML-driven product delivery, ensuring our solutions match the pace of the markets our customers trade.
  • Drive Advanced Analytics:
Spearhead the integration of advanced AI/ML capabilities into trader workflows, moving beyond data access to predictive insights and actionable intelligence.
  • Scale the Platform:
Oversee the development of scalable, low-latency applications that integrate seamlessly with customer ETRMs and algorithmic trading environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Product Vision & Strategy:
Define the long-term roadmap for the trading portfolio, identifying opportunities to create value across multiple commodity classes and time horizons.
  • Commercial Evolution:
Drive value realization through modern pricing and packaging strategies, moving toward flexible consumption models that align with customer ROI.
  • Technical Alignment:
Partner closely with Engineering to drive a modern technology roadmap, prioritizing innovation, performance, reliability, and speed.
  • Customer Partnership:
Act as the primary voice of the "trader persona" within the organization. Engage with key institutional clients to anticipate market shifts and validate new workflow solutions.
  • Data Harmonization:
Champion the use of advanced data structures to link disparate datasets, enabling complex querying and simulation across energy systems.
  • Leadership:
Build and lead a world-class Product team. Drive high performance by creating a culture of ownership and accountability, fostering a sense of shared purpose, and role modeling company values and behaviors.
Candidate Profile
  • Experience:

Demonstrable experience in product management, with significant leadership experience in Energy Trading, Capital Markets, or Financial Data.
  • Technical Fluency:
Deep understanding of real-time data delivery, APIs, and the technical requirements of high-frequency trading environments.
  • Builder Mindset:
Demonstrated success in launching new products from concept to market dominance. You excel in agile environments and have a track record of increasing deployment velocity.
  • Domain Knowledge:
Strong familiarity with North American energy markets (Power, Gas, or Environmental products) and the workflows of front-office trading desks.
  • People Management:
Demonstrable experience of progressive leadership experience, with experience leading large, cross-functional product teams. Proven experience implementing performance management systems, OKRs, or similar goal-setting frameworks, with a strong track record of developing high-potential talent and building succession pipelines.
