Our Houston Based Oil and Gas Client are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager! This role is a long term contract and offers a hybrid schedule (4 days in office and 1 WFH). This role will be leading complex application-focused technology initiatives from inception through deployment. This role requires a confident delivery leader who can operate across both technical and business teams, managing multiple concurrent projects with minimal oversight.
You’ll drive full lifecycle delivery from requirements definition and solution selection through build, testing, deployment, and transition to support ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
Key Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end delivery of IT application projects (initiation through production release)
- Partner with business stakeholders to define requirements, future-state processes, and success criteria
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and reporting
- Identify risks, dependencies, and critical path activities; proactively drive resolution
- Manage cross-functional internal teams and third-party vendors
- Oversee system testing, UAT, data migration, and production cutover activities
- Ensure appropriate governance around scope, change control, security, and compliance
- Track financials across labor, non-labor, and capital spend
- Facilitate effective handover to production support
- Conduct post-implementation reviews and drive continuous improvement
- 8+ years of Project Management experience, including significant delivery of IT application projects
- Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies (Waterfall and/or Agile)
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives in a fast-paced environment
- Experience partnering with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Strong financial management and forecasting capabilities
- Consulting background or experience working in complex, matrixed environments
- SaaS and cloud-based application deployments
- Enterprise platforms such as Oracle, Maximo, SharePoint, or Pega
- AI, data analytics, or Dev Ops-driven projects
- Experience in regulated industries (energy sector knowledge a plus)
- Experience with tools such as MS Project, Jira, Power BI, Visio
- Strong communicator who can engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Confident decision-maker who leads through influence
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven
- Commercially aware with strong budget oversight capability
- Adaptable and comfortable operating in evolving environments
