As a Sr. Developer specializing in GIS Development you will play a crucial role in designing developing and implementing innovative geospatial solutions. With a hybrid work model you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance spatial data applications ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance. Your expertise will drive impactful projects that contribute to the company's growth and societal advancements.

• Develop and implement GIS-based applications to support business objectives and enhance spatial data analysis capabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design solutions that meet user needs and improve operational efficiency.
• Utilize advanced programming skills to create robust and scalable GIS solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing systems.
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging of GIS applications to ensure high-quality performance and reliability.
• Provide technical support and guidance to team members fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
• Analyze spatial data to identify trends and patterns providing actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making.
• Optimize GIS applications for performance and scalability ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the organization.
• Stay updated with the latest GIS technologies and industry trends incorporating them into development practices to maintain a competitive edge.
• Document application designs development processes and user guides to facilitate knowledge sharing and training.
• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the functionality and user experience of GIS applications.
• Ensure compliance with data security and privacy standards in all GIS development activities.
• Contribute to the company's mission by developing solutions that have a positive impact on society and the environment.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers promoting a culture of excellence and innovation.

• Possess a strong background in GIS development with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrate proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript or C++ for GIS application development.
• Have experience with GIS software platforms like ArcGIS, QGIS or similar tools.
• Exhibit strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex spatial data effectively.
• Show excellent communication skills to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Display a commitment to continuous learning and staying abreast of emerging GIS technologies.
• Hold a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Geography or a related field with a focus on GIS development.

Certified GIS Professional (GISP) Esri Technical Certification

- $90,000 to $105,000 +/- and this position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans. Application will be accepted by 3/25/2026
