Technical Business Analyst
Location: Houston, TX 77002
Term: Contract, 6 months to 1 year, potential to extend
Interview Process: 1 virtual interview, followed by 1 in-person interview
Project / Day to Day: Technical Business Analyst supporting enterprise systems. Acts as a liaison between business leaders and technical teams, gathering requirements and translating them into detailed technical documentation. Likely involvement with data and financially driven systems. Specific projects to be confirmed.
Hours: 8:00am to 4:00pm
Remote: Hybrid, 4 days in office
Note: Looking for a technical BA to join their team in early February. Plains typically likes to see previous oil and gas experience and they have mentioned that financial and operational experience is a plus too.
Top Skills- Strong data-oriented technical BA with experience in financial systems. Exposure to IBM Maximo is highly preferred.
- 5 years of experience minimum, need to hit the ground running with no hand holding.
Job Description
Business Analysts play an important role in supporting business and technology teams by helping identify, document, and communicate requirements that drive effective solutions. This role focuses on partnering with stakeholders to understand needs, evaluate existing processes and systems, and support initiatives that improve efficiency and effectiveness across the organization.
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst who is comfortable working with both business leaders and technical teams in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical thinking, clear communication, and the ability to translate business needs into well-defined requirements.
Objectives of This Role- Support the identification and documentation of business and system requirements
- Assist in evaluating existing processes and systems to identify improvement opportunities
- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams
- Help ensure alignment between business goals and technical solutions
- Support project initiatives through clear documentation and ongoing communication
- Contribute to quality and consistency throughout the solution lifecycle
- Gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements in partnership with stakeholders
- Communicate requirements clearly to technical teams and other project participants
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation throughout project efforts
- Support analysis and problem solving related to systems and processes
- Participate in discussions with business leaders to clarify needs and expectations
- Provide updates and input to project teams and management as needed
- 5+ years of experience working as a Business Analyst
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical audiences
- Experience producing clear, well-structured documentation
- Comfortable working in a changing, project‑driven environment
- Experience supporting enterprise or data‑driven systems
- Exposure to financial or operational environments
- Ability to work across multiple stakeholder groups
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills
