Data Analyst, Data Engineer
Associate Data Modeler – PCCA
Join our data management and analytics team as an Associate Data Modeler. This role bridges business requirements with technical implementation, ensuring well‑designed data structures aligned with organizational goals. Structured mentorship and training in advanced dimensional modeling will be provided.
What You Will Do- Assist in the design and maintenance of conceptual, logical, and physical data models, building skills through mentorship and structured training.
- Participate in formal data modeling training programs to strengthen theoretical foundations.
- Normalize and denormalize data structures where appropriate.
- Support the creation of data dictionaries, entity‑relationship diagrams, and metadata.
- Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and data engineers to translate business requirements into draft Power BI and database models.
- Validate models by writing and running SQL queries and participating in peer design reviews.
- Ensure models adhere to naming standards, data governance policies, and version control practices.
- Contribute to documenting business rules and attribute definitions for key subject areas.
- Provide input on data integration and ETL/ELT design needs.
Who You Are
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline (or equivalent experience). - Experience:
Typically 3 years in a data‑focused role (e.g., data analyst, BI developer, junior modeler, ETL developer).
- Foundational understanding of data modeling principles, with willingness to develop full conceptual → logical → physical modeling skills.
- Proficient in SQL with the ability to query, validate, and troubleshoot datasets.
- Experience with Power BI data modeling and eagerness to learn formal dimensional modeling (star/snowflake schemas, fact/dimension tables, slowly changing dimensions).
- Working knowledge of at least one major RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, Postgre
SQL, MySQL, etc.). - Experience using or learning a modeling tool such as ERwin, ER/Studio, Power Designer, Lucidchart, dbt semantic layer, Power BI Model View, Tabular Editor, or similar.
- Ability to document data entities and business rules clearly for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work under guidance and incorporate feedback.
Extensive experience with Microsoft ecosystem
, including:
- Power BI (semantic modeling, DAX optimization, dataflows, relationships, measures).
- Power Platform tools.
Azure Services (Fabric Lakehouse, Fabric Warehouse, integration with One Lake).
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks, data lineage, and stewardship.
- Basic knowledge of performance optimization for semantic models (DAX best practices, partitioning strategies).
