Overview
Position: Human Resources Generalist
Firm: Oak Harvest Financial Group
Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid preferred)
We are seeking a full-time Human Resources Generalist to serve as the internal owner of all HR and benefits functions for our growing organization of approximately 45 employees across remote and in-office teams. Previously, many HR responsibilities were handled through a PEO. As we’ve transitioned away from that model, this role is critical in building, managing, and improving internal HR operations while serving as a trusted resource to leadership and employees alike.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role ideal for someone who enjoys structure, compliance, and people operations and who thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
Core HR Operations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all HR-related matters
- Manage employee lifecycle processes: onboarding, offboarding, job changes, and documentation
- Maintain employee records, files, and HRIS systems
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Support performance management processes, reviews, and documentation
- Draft, update, and maintain employee handbook and HR policies
- Manage or assist in employee related events, to help promote mission, vision and values
Benefits Administration
- Manage all employee benefit programs including health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement plans, and ancillary benefits
- Oversee open enrollment, new hire enrollments, qualifying life events, and terminations
- Serve as liaison with benefits brokers, insurance carriers, and vendors
- Educate employees on benefits offerings and support benefit-related questions
- Monitor benefit costs and assist leadership with plan evaluations and renewals
Payroll & Timekeeping Support
- Partner with payroll providers to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing
- Manage PTO tracking, leave administration, and timekeeping policies
- Support audits, reconciliations, and payroll reporting as needed
Compliance & Risk Management
- Manage workers’ compensation, unemployment claims, and related documentation
- Ensure compliance with ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, and other applicable regulations
- Support employment investigations, documentation, and corrective action processes when needed
Recruiting & HR Support
- Support recruiting and hiring logistics including job postings, offer letters, and onboarding coordination
- Partner with leadership on role creation, job descriptions, and compensation benchmarking
- Assist with HR projects, reporting, and process improvements
- 3–7 years of experience in HR, People Operations, or Benefits Administration
- Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance
- Experience managing benefits and HR processes without a PEO or with minimal outside support
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Experience supporting a hybrid or remote workforce
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar)
- Experience with HRIS and payroll platforms (ADP, Paychex, Gusto, or similar)
- Experience in financial services, professional services, or growing organizations
