A large, publicly traded organization is seeking a Senior Payroll Manager to support its Shared Services payroll function in Houston. This role oversees a complex, high-volume U.S. and Canadian payroll operation and reports to the Payroll Director.
Responsibilities- Lead high-volume payroll operations supporting 10,000+ employees across the U.S. and Canada
- Manage 50+ EINs and 100+ pay groups across weekly, biweekly, and semi-monthly payroll cycles
- Oversee and develop a 24-person payroll team
- Ensure compliance with SOX, internal controls, and wage and hour regulations
- Partner closely with HR, Accounting, Benefits, and external vendors
- Support ongoing payroll system integrations (
Oracle and Dayforce
) - Maintain accuracy, timeliness, and strong service levels in a fast-paced environment
- ACTIVE CPP certification – required
- 7+ years of payroll experience in a high-volume environment (10,000+ employees)
- 3+ years in a payroll leadership role
- Multi-state payroll experience (California required)
- Canadian payroll experience required
- Experience leading large teams through change and ambiguity
