Responsibilities

About the role

Policy and Employee Support:

  • Serve as the point of contact within assigned business streams.
  • Provide guidance on company policies, procedures, and documentation to employees and managers.
  • Respond to HR inquiries and assist with resolving policy and procedural issues from assigned email inboxes.

Employee Relations and Development:

  • Support onboarding activities, orientations, and conduct training sessions for employees.
  • Assist in developing the company’s salary structure, job documentation, and evaluation systems.
  • Provide HR consultation to management, offering advice on employment law, performance management, and conflict resolution.
  • Partner with local management to encourage open, honest communication and foster a positive work environment.

HR Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws; conduct regular reviews of policies and practices to maintain regulatory alignment.
  • Manage employment verification checks and handle invoice coding.

Employee Issues and Investigations:

  • Investigate and resolve employee complaints and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Handle employment‑related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex or sensitive matters as needed.

Talent and Performance Management:

  • Execute HR programs related to performance, productivity, recognition, and morale.
  • Support performance evaluations and assist managers in the employee review process as needed.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Maintain awareness of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and advancements in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Additional Duties:

Perform other HR-related tasks as assigned to support smooth HR operations.

About you

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment‑related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to make effective presentations on controversial or complex topics.
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office.

This is an onsite role at our Houston, TX.

Working conditions

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities.
  • Ability to use and view a computer screen for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to communicate via telephone and e‑mail without assistance.
