Space Center Houston is a space exploration learning destination dedicated to revealing how science and humanity power space exploration through meaningful, moving experiences about people and the courage, innovation, and teamwork they use to expand the boundaries of what's possible. Owned and operated by the nonprofit Manned Space Flight Education Foundation, we are the Official Visitor Center of NASA Johnson Space Center and a Smithsonian affiliate.

We are currently seeking a full-time Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) responsible for providing a range of human resources services to assigned organizations, aligning those services and initiatives with the mission, vision, and values of Space Center Houston.

The HRBP ensures that assigned organizations have the capabilities needed for the future and stewards the culture of Space Center Houston (SCH). Responsibilities and qualifications are below:

Position Responsibilities:
  • Aligns HR initiatives and functions with mission objectives and needs of SCH, ensuring compliance with law, regulations, and established policies.
  • Serves as principal HR interface to assigned organization, and partners with organization leaders to formulate unified strategies for HR services.

    Strategies should improve individual and organization productivity.
  • Serves as a dedicated crew advocate, proactively building relationships with Crew based on mutual trust and respect.

    Maintains relationships with Crew to pipeline qualified candidates into talent pools.
  • Identifies current and future talent needs for the supported organization, recruits the right talent, enhances staff performance, supports employee development, runs orientation and onboarding processes, designs succession plans, and updates policies and practices to reflect the strategic needs and priorities of the organization.
  • Stewards the culture by fostering an environment that is collaborative, compassionate and promotes professional growth to enable advancement within the organization.
  • Provides crew member and management employee relations and counseling related to the interpretation of SCH policies and procedures.
  • Conducts investigations when employee complaints or concerns arise.
  • Advises managers about employee issues and challenges.
  • Provides input to the Dayforce HRIS system and prepares reports necessary to support organization effectiveness. Performs data entry for new hires and changes of positions, ensuring accuracy of personnel data.
  • Advises on employee communication through company meetings, employee satisfaction surveys, newsletters and one-on-one meetings.
  • Champions initiatives and strategies within the assigned org unit to increase morale, productivity, crew engagement and retention.
  • Provides short- and long-term HR solutions that enable organization initiatives and missions.
  • Provides day-to-day HR services and assists in implementing larger scale initiatives and strategies on time and within budget.
  • Addresses HR issues and questions from management and the Crew on policies, practices, and initiatives impacting employment.
  • Maintains accurate and relevant personnel records and files.
  • Performs special projects and assignments, as needed.
Position

Qualifications:
  • Degree in HR or a related field preferred. HR certification a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a HRBP or recruitment role.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills to deal tactfully with Crew and managers.
  • Customer service orientation with the ability to provide a high level of service to Crew and managers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Analytical skills with strong computer/technology proficiency and database utilization and management skills.

    Ceridian Dayforce experience preferred.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts between people, using people skills.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Sound judgment and discretion for handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment with interruptions.
  • Demonstrated time management skills to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Available to work flexible hours and/or some evenings as needed.
  • Ability to travel locally to recruiting and networking events, as needed.
