Overview

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Time Tracking Specialist who will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for over 3,000 employees across multiple states. This position is part of our Payroll Operations group based in Houston, TX and is responsible for administering and monitoring all Workday Time Tracking and serving as a subject matter expert by guiding managers and employees while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless payroll operations.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for service quality, customer orientation, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement of processes related to payroll operations.
  • Process biweekly payroll for 3,000+ employees across various states, including Time Tracking as well as pay adjustments, special payments, and employee-initiated changes (e.g., deductions, tax updates, direct deposit options).
  • Administer and monitor Workday Time Tracking for a large hourly employee population across multiple U.S. states and regions.
  • Validate time entries, schedules, and shift differentials to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and state/federal labor laws.
  • Troubleshoot time tracking issues and resolve discrepancies promptly to avoid payroll delays.
  • Collaborate with Payroll, HR, and Operations teams to ensure seamless integration of time data for payroll processing.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on time tracking procedures, system navigation, and policy compliance.
  • Generate and analyze time tracking reports to identify trends, errors, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Assist with system testing, configuration updates, and enhancements related to Workday Time Tracking.
  • Maintain documentation for audits and compliance reporting.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years payroll or time tracking administration experience.
  • Proficiency in Workday or related HCM and Time Tracking modules; strong reporting and troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of U.S. labor laws, overtime rules, and multi-state compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, problem solving ability, and strong communication skills.
  • General knowledge of payroll principles, including overtime and tax withholding calculations.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Strong problem solving and mathematical abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Exceptional communication skills (oral, written, and listening).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to meeting strict daily deadlines and delivering high-quality results.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.

  • Experience with Workday time tracking system.
