Overview

Altus Hospice is seeking an Area Director of Operations for our growing team in Texas (Corpus Christi, Victoria, San Antonio, Houston). The ideal candidate is a seasoned hospice leader with multi-site management experience, a passion for hospice, and a strong operational background.

The Area Director of Operations is responsible for administering and overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day operations of multiple hospice programs/locations consistent with established goals, objectives, policies, and regulations of Altus Hospice. The Area Director of Operations will ensure compliance with all regulations, laws, policies, and procedures applicable to hospice regulatory guidelines and will manage the affairs of the local branch locations under the general direction of senior management.

Responsibilities
  • Inspire and guide the hospice team, ensuring every aspect of daily operations reflects compassion and excellence.
  • Recruit, mentor, and empower dedicated professionals, fostering a culture where every team member feels valued and supported.
  • Create and grow programs that bring comfort, dignity, and meaningful support to patients and families in their time of need.
  • Build strong partnerships with community liaisons, Regional Sales Directors, and Program Directors to extend the reach of our mission and strengthen referral relationships.
  • Champion quality by maintaining compliance with all regulations while always striving for the highest standards of care.
  • Share insights and ideas with senior leadership to help shape the future of end-of-life care in the communities we serve.
  • Anticipate staffing needs and design schedules that balance the well-being of patients, families, and team members alike.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare, management or business related field required.
  • If RN or LNHA, must have a current unencumbered license in the state of employment.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in health care management, home health, hospice, or related health programs required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of hospice experience required with intimate knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and state department of health regulations.
  • Marketing or Business Development experience in a healthcare environment required.
  • Multi-site management experience required; hospice multi-site management experience is a plus.
  • Must be willing to travel and spend at least 50% of time in the assigned region.

Compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate’s relevant experience and the specific responsibilities of the position.
