Job Description Summary
Under direct supervision of the U54 grant PI, this postdoctoral fellow II conducts biomedical/pharmaceutical sciences studies in the Center for Biomedical and Health Research (CBMHR). Specifically, responsible for bioanalysis, drug characterization, cell handling, drug formulation, small animal PK and PD studies, and data analysis; operating and maintaining instruments; providing service and technical support to internal and external users; providing direct support to the CBMHR leadership, faculty, users and staff members;
submitting reports, publishing and presenting data, and applying for funding. This is a grant position.
- Responsible for operating, maintaining instruments, and in vivo PK and PD studies, bioanalysis and formulation-related laboratory studies in the RCMC-CBMHR core facility.
- Conduct RCMI projects in laboratory activities including study design, execution of various experiments, data collection, data interpretation, laboratory supplies, and daily operations of the lab.
- Conduct in vitro characterization studies including physiochemical properties of drugs, dissolution, drug metabolism, and cellular permeation studies.
- Conduct in vivo studies including Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics on various animal models.
- Maintain all CBMHR instruments, develop and implement record-keeping systems on program participants, staff, equipment inventories and compliance activities.
- Provide direct support to the RCM I grant leadership, RCM I project faculty and professional staff members.
- Prepares facility activity reports and program status to the users, university and funding agency.
- Assist Pls in preparation of progress report of various projects and progress reports.
- Write and contribute to research papers, articles, and publications.
- Seek external funding by applying for grants and fellowships.
- Prepare applications for the career development award (e.g., NIH K- applications, pilot project grants)
- Prepares presentation materials on research topic that may be presented at conferences and various research sessions.
- Assist, mentor, and train undergraduate and graduate students in research skills.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of:
- Biostatistical analysis supporting biomedical/pharmaceutical research.
- Technical and functional principles and procedures.
- Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications.

Ability to:
- Operating software.
- Ability to maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment or water treatment system.
Required: A minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience in biomedical science related field with experience in a biomedical or pharmaceutical research.
Preferred:
- A preferred candidate should have at least 5 co-authorships in peer-reviewed publications.
- Preferred experience with analytical instrumentation, formulation development and animal handling.
Work is performed within routine office environment with no exposure to hazardous or unpleasant conditions. Physical demands are usually limited to sitting or standing in one location much of the time. Some stooping, lifting or carrying objects of light weight may be required.
