Manager In‑Patient and Emergency Services
Townsen Memorial Hospital is seeking a Manager In‑Patient and Emergency Services to lead our newest hospital located in Houston, TX. The Director of In‑Patient and Emergency Services ensures high quality, patient‑centered care through oversight of staffing, forecasting, planning, and budget monitoring. The role fosters a culture of accountability and collaboration and supports the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and procedures related to Respiratory Therapy, Laboratory Services, Emergency Room, and in‑patient services across the TMH system.
Essential Functions
- Cultivate a superior clinical identity by identifying and implementing evidence‑based practices to advance patient safety and quality outcomes. Ensure adherence to standards of care.
- Manage variation in clinical practice to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost; promote accountability and transparency in care delivery.
- Stay abreast of internal/external benchmarks, accreditations, and designations; actively pursue efforts to achieve them.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards by developing and implementing policies, procedures, and practices.
- Ensure regular equipment maintenance in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Improve patient throughput and quality through volume forecasting, patient flow coordination, and admission/discharge planning.
- Develop care‑coordination policies and procedures to promote safety and efficiency, fostering interdisciplinary communication.
Service
- Provide leadership to attain and sustain an unparalleled patient experience.
- Use feedback mechanisms to benchmark performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Execute a strategic roadmap to enhance patient experience and achieve optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and patient experience leaders to implement evidence‑based practices that enhance patient experience.

Finance
- Participate in the annual budget process, inputting department revenue and expense forecasts, staffing, and supply needs.
- Monitor budget performance, identify trends, evaluate variances, and develop actions to address gaps.
- Ensure effective labor management, scheduling, productivity, and premium pay utilization.
- Manage operating expenses, seeking cost‑reduction opportunities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Communicate with impact: deliver clear, concise, and compelling information.
- Leverage strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead and develop others; provide coaching and mentoring.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Must hold BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification or obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Must be a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas with an active license.
- One year of leadership experience.
- Three years of applicable experience.
