About Our Client:
Addison Group is partnering with a growing healthcare organization seeking an Insurance AR Specialist to support insurance follow-up, accounts receivable management, and payment posting. This role is well-suited for someone with foundational medical billing experience who enjoys problem-solving, payer communication, and working in a structured back-office environment.
Job DescriptionThe Insurance AR Specialist is responsible for resolving unpaid and underpaid insurance claims, reviewing EOBs, posting payments, and serving as a liaison between billing teams, providers, and payers. This position plays a key role in reducing aged AR and ensuring billing accuracy and compliance.
Responsibilities- Follow up on unpaid and aged insurance claims (120+ days) to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Review insurance EOBs, identify discrepancies, and initiate appeals when needed.
- Investigate posting errors and collaborate with billing teams to resolve issues.
- Post insurance and patient payments accurately and reconcile accounts.
- Communicate with insurance companies and patients regarding claims, balances, and corrections.
- Update patient insurance information and process refund requests.
- Document all payer and patient correspondence clearly within the system.
- Support billing operations and assist with training or process improvement initiatives as needed.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1+ year of experience in medical billing, insurance collections, or AR preferred.
- Basic understanding of insurance payer guidelines and billing workflows.
- Experience reading and interpreting EOBs required.
- Familiarity with EMR systems and payer portals (Centricity or Athena preferred).
- Strong customer service and phone communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
