Outpatient & Sports Medicine Rehab locations
Responsibilities- Assesses patients, develops and initiates a treatment plan based on the results of the evaluation. The evaluation may include measurements of neuromuscular and skeletal functions. Documents findings, progress and provides instruction to patients and caregivers.
- Provides recommendations and assists physical therapists and management with program development. Serves as a resource and mentor; oversees the development, guidance and training of assistants, students, interns and rehabilitation technicians with regards to individual patient care.
- Direct access: examines and evaluates a patient s current conditions which may identify movement and mobility dysfunction. Do not diagnose an illness or disease. If a medical diagnosis exists, consider it during evaluation.
- Mentors and supports clinical staff as described within the department and community; participates in program development and clinical competencies.
- Performs duties in alignment with Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Participates in safe care for patients, staff and visitors and promotes compassionate, personalized experiences.
- Education: Bachelor s or graduate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited university-based Physical Therapy program
- Licenses/Certifications: Current license to practice Physical Therapy by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission
- Current Certification in Basic Life Support
- Education: Doctoral degree with a residency or fellowship program, or Licensed therapist with 30 hours of continuing competence in differential diagnosis
- Licenses/Certifications: Current license to practice Physical Therapy by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission
- One (1) year of experience preferred
- Demonstrates ability and willingness to mentor/train staff or supervise clinical interns/students
- Provides clinical leadership and develops programs for specific patient populations
- Acts as a clinical resource for hospital, system or departmental committees or task forces
- Designs and implements staff development programs to facilitate clinical competencies
- Ability to lift up to 75/100 pounds, carry up to 30 pounds, prolonged standing, frequent walking, stooping and squatting
- Fine hand dexterity and strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to monitor instruments and equipment, recognize alphanumeric characters, observe colors
- Flexibility to commit to an elected schedule and move within patient care areas when necessary
- For direct access, requires one year of experience
- Perform comprehensive evaluation of patients with physician referral
- Interpret evaluation findings and develop a written plan of care with goals and a comprehensive program
- Implement physical therapy treatment programs and demonstrate competency in advanced physical therapy skills
- Oversee patient care performed by assistants and rehab technicians; monitor progress and adjust goals as needed
- Motivate and instruct patients/caregivers; communicate with patients, caregivers, physicians and insurers
- Document appropriately in the medical record and complete documentation duties accurately
- Serve as a clinical resource; provide leadership in department initiatives
- Demonstrate increasing expertise for a patient population; act as a clinical instructor to PT/PTA interns
- Assist in program development and supervision of staff
- Participate in community service and present topics at meetings and conferences as requested
- Ensure safe care and adherence to Memorial Hermann policies and standards; manage time, supplies and productivity
- Support professional growth and department goals; serve as preceptor and mentor
- Model Memorial Hermann service standards and deliver compassionate, personalized and efficient experiences
