Job Summary

The Sterile Processing Technician I (SP Tech I) is responsible for decontaminating, processing, and sterilizing instruments, supplies, and equipment by following established standards and guidelines. The SP Tech I demonstrates personal and professional effectiveness.

• Education:
  
  High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of Central Service Technology Course or equivalent work experience (at least one year experience in central sterile processing).
• Work Experience:
  
  One (1) year work experience in Central Sterile Processing. Can substitute for Central Service Technology course (Preferred).
• Communication
  
  Skills:
  
  Above average verbal communication (heavy public contact), writing/reports (legible handwriting and coherent writing).

• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  Medical terms, surgical/medical terminology knowledge, critical thinking, multitask in a fast‑paced environment, ability to lead projects, monitor and interpret results of gauges & research surgical instruments and supply companies, PC (basic entry level).
• Work Schedule:
  
  Weekends, holidays, flexible, on call.
• Equipment Operated:
  Sterilization equipment, decontamination equipment, computer/printer, elevator system, endoscopic re‑processors, heat sealer, biological incubators, barcode scanners, computer software, temperature monitors, equipment gauges, visual screen monitors, digital camera, and inter‑department paging system.
